A Thank You Note

I am an artist.

I don’t even know how long it took me to say that. I am an artist and I love to write. Piecing together a story that I know someone else is going to read is powerful. Knowing that I may make even one person smile, or gasp, or bounce with anticipation at the next twist in plot direction is huge to me.

When I write I do so with the hope that my words may make someone cry, or laugh, or scream in frustration because the characters as I’ve written them have caused them to have an emotional connection of some sort.

Today my friend Jake gave that gift to me, thankfully he’s not the first, and I hope he won’t be the last but he told me that the story of mine that he’s reading invoked that kind of response.

I know a lot of people say not to write for the reviews, and I don’t let a lack of reviews keep me from posting new chapters or even new stories, but I have to say that when people take the time to click that little button and give me even 5 words of their opinion about what it is they’ve just read, well it makes me that much more excited to be a writer.

So this is a thank you to all my reviews, past present and future.
